With wood being a natural product it can be quite reactive to the outdoors. The colour and finish can fade or silver and cracks or shakes can start to appear.
Because of this it can be difficult to keep outdoor wooden furniture looking its best all year round, however here are some things you can do to make it much easier!
1. Cleaning
Being exposed to the elements can lead to dirt, dew, lichen etc. accumulating on the surfaces of you outdoor wooden furniture, so it’s a good idea to regularly wipe them down.
You can do this with a damp cloth, adding some diluted soap for more stubborn marks.
2. Storage
If possible, it's a good idea to keep your outdoor wooden furniture out of the elements when not in use. This is especially important in the colder, wetter months of the year.
Our Outdoor Coast Dining Table has been designed to be easily disassembled, reducing the space required for storage.
3. Refinishing
How you want your outdoor wooden furniture to look is up to you. Over time the finish will become weathered, leading it to silver and maybe reveal rustic features such as cracks and shakes.
Some people love the aged look. However if you are trying to keep the finish pristine, then it’s important to sand-back and refinish your furniture every 6-12 months.
If you have one of our Outdoor items, we also offer recoat here which can be used to top-up the finish.
